Dresdner SC's volleyball players have continued their winning streak against the German champions. Coach Alexander Waibl's team put in a strong and consistent performance to win 3:1 (25:23, 23:25, 25:16, 25:23) at Allianz MTV Stuttgart on Saturday. It was the fifth win in a row for the Elbe club in the Bundesliga and their eighth success in all competitions.
In the first set, the DSC women were able to play a fast and variable attacking game from a stable reception. In crunch time, the visitors made fewer mistakes than the Stuttgart side. The second set was again a battle of equals, this time with the better end for the hosts, whose exceptional player Krystal Rivers (26 points) scored time and again.
However, more mistakes crept into the MTV women's game again in the third set. Dresden dictated the action more clearly from the middle of the set, setter Sarah Straube ensured a clear lead with a series of serves and diagonal attacker Grace Frohling (23 points), who was later honored as MVP like Rivers, repeatedly found the gaps in the opposing block.
The picture initially changed in the fourth set. Stuttgart found its way back into the game and led 14:6, but the visitors never gave up. They fought their way back point by point with incredible morale and energy, kept their nerve in the tight final phase and converted their first match point after 110 minutes to secure a deserved victory.
