According to Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU), Saxony and Bavaria can benefit from each other when it comes to medical care and reducing bureaucracy. "Our rural doctor program is really leading the way," he said during a joint visit to Plauen with his Bavarian counterpart Markus Söder (CSU). The fact that doctors in private practice, mayors, district councils and hospitals in Saxony are discussing the healthcare structure of the future together is something that Bavaria is now also doing.
On the other hand, Saxony could ask itself when it comes to reducing bureaucracy, such as streamlining building regulations: "Can't we do something similar to Bavaria? Why is that possible there?" Saxony would also draw on the positive experiences of Bavaria when it comes to the idea of a border police force.
Kretschmer: Zero tolerance for crime
Kretschmer also pointed out one thing the two states have in common. "When it comes to crime, we are two countries that firmly advocate zero tolerance," he said.
During their visit to Plauen, the two Minister Presidents discussed common challenges and goals with experts. The focus was on rural areas, particularly the topics of migration, applied science, medical care, local transport and local amenities. Afterwards, a visit to the Plauen Stahl Technologie company was on the agenda.
