After extensive renovation work, the waterworks in Dresden-Coschütz is back in operation. Among other things, parts of the tunnel system, which transports the water from the Klingenberg dam to Dresden, and the surge tank in Freital-Coßmannsdorf were renewed during the five months of work, as SachsenEnergie announced on Tuesday. In addition, 6,200 new filter nozzles were installed in the sand filter basins at the waterworks in Coschütz and another section of the clean water collection channel was given a new layer of concrete.
The waterworks is reportedly the largest in Dresden. It supplies 60 percent of Dresden's residents with fresh water every day. SachsenEnergie had invested six million euros in the renovation measures. During the construction work, the waterworks in Tolkewitz and Hosterwitz took over Dresden's drinking water supply.
