Politician Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) will present her new party's campaign for the state elections in Thuringia this fall on Friday (1 p.m.). The timetable and the founding of a Thuringian state association will also be discussed, as a spokesperson for the newly founded party Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht said in advance. In addition to federal chairwoman Wagenknecht herself, Eisenach mayor Katja Wolf and entrepreneur Steffen Schütz will also appear at the press conference.
Wolf had surprisingly announced her switch from the Left Party to the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) a few weeks ago and signaled her intention to run for the state parliament. The experienced local politician is the most prominent BSW candidate to date in Thuringia, where a new state parliament will be elected on September 1. Minister President Bodo Ramelow (Left Party) had publicly offered Wolf the chance to join his election campaign team and held out the prospect of a ministerial post to her, but she declined.
