The Saxon State Opera Dresden opens its doors at the start of the season. Thousands take the opportunity to get to know the Semperoper better - also to the surprise of the new artistic director.

The Saxon State Opera Dresden got off to a successful start to the season with its new artistic director Nora Schmid at the weekend. She personally presented the program of her first season 2024/2025 in the sold-out Semperoper, two weeks before the first premiere. According to the opera house, almost 10,000 people came to the open day to explore the Semperoper, workshops and function rooms.

Schmid was pleasantly surprised by the response. On September 28, Arrigo Boito's opera "Mefistofele" will be the first new production to be staged, with a debut by actress Martina Gedeck.
