Dresden will soon be able to "striezel" again. Construction for the 589th Dresden Striezelmarkt is in full swing, the city announced on Monday. From November 29 to December 24, more than 200 stalls ranging from arts and crafts to culinary delights will attract visitors to the Altmarkt. The Stollen Festival is planned for 9 December.
In addition to the already decorated Christmas tree, a 20-metre-high Colorado fir from Pirna, there are already pyramids and candle arches from the Erzgebirge on the Altmarkt. The nostalgic multi-level carousel and a historic Ferris wheel are also creating anticipation.
There will also be a giant stollen again at the Stollen Festival. This year, it was baked jointly by the Dresden Stollen bakers and will soon be assembled into its original shape. The giant stollen will be ceremonially cut on the day of the festival and sold in portions weighing around 500 grams for ten euros each. The Dresden stollen bakers will donate part of the proceeds to the Albert Schweitzer Children's Village in Saxony.
