The Leipziger Lachmesse satire festival has been inviting people to smile and reflect for 34 years. This year's program brings together up-and-coming artists and old acquaintances.

Laughter is back in Leipzig: 143 artists from the humor and satire scene are expected in the city for the 34th Lachmesse. From Sunday to the closing gala on 27 October, a total of 75 events are on the program, as the organizers announced.

This year, many well-known names such as Knacki Deuser or Lisa Eckhart, the musician Rainald Grebe or the cabaret artist and presenter Christian Ehring will be there again. Anissa Loucif, Max Beier and Mago Masin will be competing in the young talent competition. The audience will decide who wins the prize of 100,000 cents (1,000 euros).

Regional artists are also represented in large numbers - from Leipzig cabaret artist Anke Geißler and Katrin Weber to the duo Zärtlichkeiten mit Freunden (Christoph Walther and Stefan Schramm).

Musical acts include Sarah Hakenberg, who often tells her little everyday stories on the piano or ukulele. The magician Magic Riech will provide magic on stage, and this time there will also be a clown, David Eriksson from Sweden, who, according to the organizers, combines punk and poetry.
