On February 14, couples around the world show their love. But do a particularly large number of them say "I do" on this day?

According to statistics, Valentine's Day is not particularly popular for weddings in Saxony. Just between 2.8 and 6.3 percent of all marriages took place in the month of February between 2014 and 2023 - making it one of the months with the fewest weddings, according to the State Statistical Office. Only in 2014, 2015 and 2019 was Valentine's Day the day in February with the most weddings.

In 2023, 35 couples said "I do" on February 14, according to the data. The total number of weddings that month was 489. 36 couples were married on Valentine's Day in 2022, and 442 couples were married on February 22, which was the highest number that year due to the special date. A total of 1,029 couples tied the knot in February 2022.

According to the statisticians, significantly more people prefer the warmer months as a date for getting married. In the past ten years, more than half of all marriages in a given year took place between June and September, according to the report.
