From Monet to Antarctica - next year, the Panometer in Leipzig will be changing its theme. Instead of French street scenes, visitors can then expect a world of ice and snow.

Visitors to the Panometer in Leipzig will be able to immerse themselves in the icy world of Antarctica next year. Artist Yadegar Asisi is planning a 360-degree panorama with glaciers, icebergs and penguins. The 32-metre-high panorama is set to celebrate its world premiere in Leipzig at the end of January 2026, the exhibition organizers announced.

Asisi traveled to the region to study the light and structures of the ice. The artistic staging of Antarctica will replace the current painting "Monet's Cathedral", which will be on display until the beginning of January next year.

In addition to Leipzig, Asisi's panoramas will also be shown in Berlin, Dresden, Lutherstadt Wittenberg and Pforzheim. In addition, two further exhibition locations are under construction in Vienna and Constance.
