Fußball Bundesliga club RB Leipzig has extended the contract with captain Willi Orban ahead of schedule. The Hungarian international will remain with the Cup winners until 2027, the club announced on Friday. The 30-year-old, who is currently out for weeks with a knee injury, had moved to Leipzig from Kaiserslautern in 2015 and has since played 292 competitive games in the RB jersey. Only Yussuf Poulsen (368) and Emil Forsberg (312) were used more often for Leipzig.

"I have long been at home in Leipzig after the eight years and feel incredibly comfortable here," said Orban. Sports director Rouven Schröder added: "Willi is a showcase professional and top athlete who has stood his ground against the odds and is also always breaking new ground to continue improving."
