The SC DHfK Leipzig handball team have suffered their third successive defeat in the Bundesliga. The team of coach Runar Sigtryggsson lost to TBV Lemgo Lippe by a clear 26:35 (12:19) after a weak performance. National team players Luca Witzke and Lukas Binder were the best scorers for SC DHfK, who slipped to 13th place with 17:29 points.
The club from Leipzig, for whom Franz Semper made an inconspicuous comeback after several weeks out injured, initially failed to get a grip in defense and quickly trailed 2:5 (5th minute). Although they managed to close the gap to 7:8 in the 11th minute, they then went almost eight minutes without scoring. Lemgo was far more composed in attack and pulled 18:10 ahead by the 26th minute against an overly passive home side.
The Leipzig club started the second half with far more energy. However, they repeatedly failed to score against TBV goalkeeper Constantin Möstl, who was in brilliant form, allowing the visitors to extend their lead to 24:15 by the 40th minute and demoralize Leipzig, who resigned themselves to their fate from then on. The deficit grew to 22:33 by the 55th minute, before the home side was able to make up some ground in the final spell.
