Hallescher FC has presented its first new signing of the winter. However, it is not the expected central defender.

The relegation-threatened third-division soccer club Hallescher FC has strengthened its offense. As the club announced on Saturday, winger Tarsis Bonga is moving to the Saale. The brother of basketball world champion Isaac Bonga last played for TSV 1860 Munich. The 26-year-old terminated his contract there on Friday.

Bonga has already played in the 2nd Bundesliga for Bochum and Braunschweig and gained experience in the third division in Chemnitz and Zwickau before his time in Munich. Born in the Rhineland, he only made a few brief appearances for 1860 and was no longer in the squad from mid-November.

Halle are 17th in the 3rd division, but are only two points off 16th place with one game to go. The club had already announced its intention to strengthen in the winter. The main target is a central defender.
