The handball players of BSV Sachsen Zwickau have suffered another setback in their fight to stay in the league. Coach Norman Rentsch's charges lost the basement duel at third-bottom Sport-Union Neckarsulm 27:35 (13:22) on Saturday. After their twelfth defeat of the season, the team from Saxony remains penultimate and is now four points behind a non-relegation place.
Angunn Gudmestad (9), Alessia Riner (7), Sinah Hagen and Munia Smits (5 each) played the biggest part in the hosts' success. Blanka Kajdon (8/3) and Victoria Hasselbusch (5) scored the most goals for Zwickau.
The game was decided fairly early on in this seminal encounter. The visitors only kept within touching distance up to 7:5 (11') and did not take the lead once. Neckarsulm produced a 6:0 run to make it 13:5 (17') within six minutes and extended its lead to nine goals by the break. Zwickau simply made too many technical mistakes to get back into the game.
