Swiss national goalkeeper Nikola Portner has extended his contract with SC Magdeburg until 2027.

Nikola Portner will remain with SC Magdeburg for another few years. The Swiss national goalkeeper extended his contract with the Champions League winner until 2027, the handball Bundesliga club announced on Saturday. The 29-year-old had changed last year from Chambery Savoie HB from France to Magdeburg and immediately brought in his first season the Club World Cup as well as the victory in the Champions League.

"I feel very comfortable here with my family and we have found a second home with the SCM family. I am also convinced that we still have a lot of potential with the team to achieve great things," said Portner. That the keeper would stay had been certain for some time. "We were already in agreement with Niko before the Champions League Final4 about an extension and then finalized it during the summer break," said coach Bennet Wiegert.
