Three people have been injured in several rear-end collisions on the Autobahn 4 near Klipphausen west of Dresden - one of them seriously. According to the police, a 28-year-old lorry driver noticed the end of a traffic jam in the direction of Chemnitz too late at midday and rear-ended the articulated lorry of a 49-year-old man. A 23-year-old driver of a following van was also unable to brake in time and crashed into the 28-year-old's trailer. A 21-year-old female van driver also failed to stop in time and hit the van in front of her.
The 28-year-old suffered serious injuries in the accident. The 21-year-old female driver and the 23-year-old male driver sustained minor injuries. All three were taken to hospital for treatment. The police are currently investigating the exact cause of the accident. The highway had to be completely closed for about an hour for the recovery work. The damage to property is estimated at around 240,000 euros.
