Elbe in Dresden closed to shipping again

Over the past three weeks, several barges have passed the partially destroyed Dresden Carola Bridge on the Elbe by prior arrangement. Shipping companies and ports breathed a sigh of relief after months of closure.

Several exits will be closed until the end of the week due to work on the Autobahn 4 near Dresden. Drivers will have to put up with detours and traffic jams.

First cargo ship in months passes Dresden

Inland shipping on the Upper Elbe has been suspended since the partial collapse of Dresden's Carola Bridge. Passage is now possible again - the condition of the structure is being monitored.
