Road accidents involving wild animals are not uncommon at this time of year. In the district of Central Saxony, such accidents result in considerable material damage.

A traffic accident involving a wild boar on the B173 in the district of Central Saxony has led to a full road closure and property damage of around 45,000 euros. The animal did not survive the collision, according to the Chemnitz police department. The car of a 50-year-old female driver had collided with the animal on Christmas Eve coming from Chemnitz at the Niederwiesa junction. The car was then no longer roadworthy. The occupants were uninjured.
