A few months before the start of the new training year, the East Saxon trades have already signed a good 500 apprenticeship contracts. This roughly corresponds to the previous year's level, the Dresden Chamber of Skilled Crafts announced on Tuesday.
The earlier students apply, the better their chances of finding their desired apprenticeship position, said Andreas Brzezinski, Managing Director of the Dresden Chamber of Skilled Crafts. "And even for those who don't yet know exactly what profession they want to learn, now is the ideal time to apply for an internship." Around 400 vacancies for apprenticeships and internships are currently listed in the Dresden Chamber of Crafts' free online apprenticeship exchange alone.
The skilled trades in Germany provide training in 130 professions - around 80 of which can be learned in East Saxony. Among them, motor vehicle mechatronics technicians, plant mechanics for sanitary, heating and air conditioning technology, electronics technicians, carpenters, painters and varnishers are particularly popular. Last year, a total of 2117 women and men started an apprenticeship with a skilled trade company in the region.
