Negotiations are continuing in the VW collective bargaining round. The talks were still ongoing, according to participants this morning. Even an overnight meeting had not yet resulted in an agreement.
The possibly decisive round of negotiations began on Monday morning. Around 70 representatives of the company and IG Metall met in Hanover for their fifth meeting. In a marathon of negotiations, they want to try and reach an agreement before Christmas.
Volkswagen is demanding a ten percent pay cut due to the Group's difficult situation. Plant closures and compulsory redundancies are still on the table. IG Metall, on the other hand, is demanding the retention of all sites and an employment guarantee for the approximately 130,000 employees. It rejects permanent cuts to monthly wages.
