Four state exhibitions have so far shed light on chapters in Saxony's history. Now, in 2029, it takes a look at 1100 years - at an original location.

The Staatliche Schlösser, Burgen und Gärten GmbH can begin preparations for the next state exhibition on Saxony's history in 2029. According to the Ministry of Culture in Dresden, the cabinet confirmed the basic concept for the show entitled "Meissen 929 - 1100 Years of Saxony" in Albrechtsburg Castle, which is considered the "cradle of Saxony".

The anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone for Meissen Castle by King Henry I is the starting point for a current survey of how Saxony came to be, what it was and what it is. The kick-off in 2023 with the "600 years of electoral dignity" anniversary will be followed by regional projects in 2027 and 2028.

Four state exhibitions have been held to date: "Time and Eternity" on the Middle Ages, monasteries and sacred art at St. Marienstern Monastery (Panschwitz-Kuckau) in 1998, "Faith and Power" on Saxony and the Reformation in Torgau in 2004, "Via Regia" on the old trade route in Görlitz in 2011 and industrial culture in the Zwickau/Chemnitz area in 2020/2021.
