Following the arrest of an employee in connection with possible Chinese espionage, the leading candidate for the European elections, Maximilian Krah, will be appearing at campaign events in Saxony this Wednesday. He is scheduled to speak at an event in Chemnitz in the morning and in Dresden in the afternoon. Krah had canceled an appearance at his party's election campaign kick-off in Donaueschingen a few days ago at short notice.
Last week, one of Krah's employees was arrested in Dresden. He is accused of acting as an agent for a foreign secret service in a particularly serious case. He is alleged to have repeatedly passed on information about negotiations and decisions in the European Parliament in January of this year.
The MEP Krah himself is also under investigation for possible links to Russia and China. Following media reports about possible money payments, the public prosecutor's office in Dresden is examining whether to open an investigation.
