The AfD won the most votes in the federal election in Dresden. In both the first and second votes, it overtook the CDU, which had previously enjoyed success there.
In the Dresden I constituency, Thomas Ladzinski (AfD) won with 29.4 percent against CDU politician Markus Reichel (27.3 percent). Reichel had won the direct mandate in this constituency in 2021. The AfD was also clearly ahead of the CDU (19.9 percent) with 27.4 percent of the second votes. Turnout: 82.1 percent.
In the Dresden II - Bautzen II constituency, Matthias Rentzsch (AfD) won 29.9 percent of the first votes, leaving Lars Rohwer from the CDU (24.2 percent) behind. Rohwer had narrowly won the race in this constituency in 2021 ahead of the AfD candidate at the time. The AfD came in ahead of the CDU (18.1%) with 28.6% of the second votes. Voter turnout was 84.1 percent.
