The fact that the SPD is to continue to lead the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Saxony has been met with disapproval by the conservative Heimatunion in the CDU in Saxony. "We are causing a credibility problem for the CDU," explained Heimatunion chairman Sven Eppinger. At a national level, the CDU is focusing on economic policy. "At the same time, here in Saxony we are symbolically giving the Ministry of Economic Affairs to one of the failed traffic light parties."
The SPD is to lead the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Social Affairs in the new government. The remaining ministries will go to the CDU.
According to Eppinger, social stipulations in the coalition agreement also largely bear the signature of the SPD. He called this questionable. Overall, too many compromises had been made. On the positive side, however, the coalition agreement with the SPD contains more CDU content than the two agreements in 2014 with the SPD and 2019 with the SPD and Greens. It is also good that the government is prepared to make savings for itself.
The CDU in Saxony will vote on the coalition agreement at a party conference on December 14.
