The actress Sandra Hüller is scheduled to speak at a rally against right-wing extremism in Leipzig. Hüller will speak to the demonstrators at the rally organized by a nationwide alliance, the organizers of "Hand in Hand for Democracy and Human Rights" and Hüller's management announced on Wednesday upon request. Hüller was nominated at this year's Oscars for the leading role in the film "Anatomy of a Case".
"Our declared goal is to leave neither our communities nor Europe to the right. We want a Europe based on solidarity, social justice and climate justice and clearly oppose a nationalist Europe of isolation and exclusion," emphasized Irena Rudolph-Kokot for "Hand in Hand Leipzig". The Suhl-born actress Sandra Hüller lives in Leipzig.
The organizers expect at least 5,000 participants at the rally on Saturday from 3 p.m. on Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz in the trade fair city. After the speeches, people will march along the inner city ring road. At the same time, the action alliance "Wir sind die Brandmauer Dresden" has called for a large demonstration under the motto "Stop right-wing extremism - defend democracy" on Theaterplatz in the state capital.
