A total of 145.5 million euros will be used to promote urban development in 112 locations in Saxony. Half of the money comes from the federal government and half from the state budget, as the regional development ministry in Dresden announced on Friday. It is available to the municipalities proportionately until the end of 2027 for investments. Thus could be supported country widely at present 168 urban development measures, in order to make cities and municipalities attractive and identity-creating locations for living, working, economics and culture.
The urban development promotion has high portion of the fact that the appearance of cities and municipalities "extremely to the positive changed", said regional development minister Thomas Schmidt (CDU). Since 1991, more than 6.2 billion euros have been spent in Saxony. Despite new challenges such as the energy-efficient refurbishment of public buildings or adaptation to climate change, development deficits in urban development must remain in focus, he added. In 2022, 276 measures in 150 municipalities were supported, according to the ministry - since 1991, 242 cities and municipalities have benefited from federal-state urban development programs.
