Some facilities closed for election count

Citizens in some Saxon towns and municipalities will have to prepare for closed daycare centers, town halls and libraries on Monday due to the counting of the local and European elections. Due to the high effort involved in counting the local and European elections, the city administration, including the municipal daycare centers and after-school care centers, will not be able to operate as normal at the beginning of the week, the city of Freital announced on its website on Friday. Employees of the large district town near Dresden can still be reached by phone or email in urgent cases.

The town hall in Borna near Leipzig is also set to remain closed on Monday. In Glauchau (Zwickau district), the entire city administration and many facilities such as the tourist information office, city treasury, citizens' office, registry office, theater and libraries will remain closed, the city announced on its website.

Residents of some parts of Dresden will also have to prepare for restrictions. For example, all citizens' offices - with the exception of the one in the Old Town - will remain closed. The pregnancy advice center in Industriestraße and the Südvorstadt and Neustadt libraries will also be closed on Monday. Longer waiting times are to be expected in many places.

If there are no poll workers, public service employees will have to fill the gaps in some polling stations in Saxony this coming election Sunday and late into the night.
