The Green Youth in Saxony has a new dual leadership following the wave of resignations from the board. At a general meeting in Görlitz, Miriam Schröter and Jacob Kempe were elected as the new spokespersons, as announced by the youth organization of the Greens in Saxony.
The reorganization follows a state-wide crisis within the Greens - triggered by the party's poor performance in the state elections. In protest against its course, the federal executive of the Green Youth announced that it would leave the party and found a new left-wing youth association. This also triggered a wave of resignations in the state associations of the youth organization. In Saxony, four of the board members then announced their withdrawal.
At the state members' meeting, the Green Youth adopted a key motion entitled "Surviving Saxony - Solidarity wins!". The youth organization named the issues of right-wing extremism, climate crisis, poor infrastructure and social injustice as tasks that need to be tackled.
