On Friday, the Berlin state election committee determined the official second vote result of the partial re-run of the Bundestag election on February 11. Compared to the provisional election result, there are only minimal differences, for example in valid and invalid votes or the distribution of votes among the parties. These changes identified during the retrospective review have no impact on the percentage second vote result.
This looks as follows: SPD 22.2 percent (-1.2 percentage points compared to the 2021 election), Greens 22.0 percent (-0.3), CDU 17.2 percent (+1.3), Left 11.5 percent (+0.1), AfD 9.4 percent (+1.0), FDP 8.1 percent (-0.9). The final result is made up of the results of the partial rerun in 455 of 2256 constituencies and the remaining election results from September 26, 2021 in Berlin, which were valid. The state electoral administration put the voter turnout at 69.5 percent.
The partial rerun in Berlin had been ordered by the Federal Constitutional Court because there were many organizational problems and glitches during the first attempt in 2021. The new final result of the Bundestag election for the whole of Germany will be announced by Federal Returning Officer Ruth Brand after a meeting of the Federal Electoral Committee on March 1. According to the preliminary results, there were only minor shifts, and the majority in the Bundestag has not changed.
