Jewish life has existed in Saxony since the Middle Ages. Deportation, flight and emigration during the Nazi era almost wiped it out - but it has been on the rise again since 1990.

This year, the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony is funding a further 25 projects on the Jewish past and present in Saxony. A total of 275,000 euros has been approved for the exhibitions, concerts, discussion formats and "promising new artistic productions". According to the press release, they are dedicated to Jewish traditions and festivals, trace known and unknown Jewish life paths and show the diversity of Jewish art and culture.

These include a graphic novel in collaboration with an artist to commemorate Jewish forced laborers in Waldenburg, a concert program by the Leipzig band Herje Mine with Jewish liturgies from around the world and the exhibition "tedious and brief" by Israeli artists Tamar Harpaz and Gili Avissar.

Since 2023, 32 projects have been supported by the funding program, which aims to make Jewish life visible to the public. Among the projects submitted, the cultural foundation selected a remembrance project
