Football-Regionalligist 1. FC Lok Leipzig has incurred a five-figure amount of damage during a burglary. The club announced on Saturday in social networks that unknown persons had penetrated in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday into the office, the VIP rooms as well as the club restaurant in the Bruno-Plache-Stadion. Thereby, there was an estimated property damage of 50,000 euros.
According to police, mainly electronics, training equipment and cash were stolen, according to the club, the value amounts to about 5000 euros. A police spokeswoman said on Saturday that the search for the perpetrators was ongoing.
"This is undoubtedly a bitter blow for our beloved club, which always tries to achieve the maximum with its hardworking full-time and volunteer staff and its manageable resources. This burglary shocks us, but we will not let it get us down," communicated the club.
Lok now wants to adjust the security measures on the premises. There had previously been a cyberattack on the club's website, which cannot currently be updated.
