Dynamo Dresden brought the cup heroes from Arminia Bielefeld back down to earth in the 3rd Football League. The Saxons won the top match 3:0 (2:0) and consolidated second place in the table. In front of 27,688 spectators, Jonas Oehmichen (19th minute) and Christoph Daferner (41st) scored Dresden's goals before the break. Substitute Robin Meißner scored the decisive 3:0 in the 64th minute.
Dresden showed from the outset that they were determined to improve their rather mediocre home record. With powerful play from all parts of the team, they surprised Arminen, who started somewhat more cautiously after their 3:1 cup coup against Bundesliga side SC Freiburg. When they became more offensive from the 25th minute onwards, Dynamo took a fully deserved lead through the very agile Oehmichen, who scored his third goal of the season with a duster.
Bielefeld were unable to create any chances before the break. Instead, Daferner scored his tenth goal of the season when he converted a sharp cross from Sascha Risch with a direct shot.
Bielefeld with pressure and chances in the second half
After the changeover, Bielefeld turned up the heat and were repeatedly dangerous in front of the Dresden goal, but were unlucky with their finishing. Dynamo, on the other hand, were more effective. After one or two counter-attacking chances were missed, substitute Meißner did better and scored to make it 3-0.
The visitors did not give up after that either and had several great opportunities, but nothing came together on the day. Dynamo relied on counter-attacks and managed to hold on for the win.
