The FSV Zwickau mourns the loss of its record player Alois Glaubitz. The former defender died last Saturday at the age of 89. "Legends never die! You dear Alois, are the greatest legend that Zwickau soccer has ever had," the club announced on Monday on the platform X, formerly Twitter, after consulting with the family.

Glaubitz became the record player of BSG Sachsenring Zwickau with 429 appearances in the GDR top division. He began his career in 1948 with SG Dorfhain in the Erzgebirge and ran up for Zwickau for the first time on May 23, 1956 against 1. FC Lok Leipzig. He ended his career 17 years later on June 9, 1973 against FC Carl Zeiss Jena. He won the FDGB Cup with Zwickau in 1963 and 1967. Until the end, Glaubitz still regularly attended games of the West Saxons as the club's first honorary member.
