Contrary to the fears of Austria's German national soccer coach Ralf Rangnick, RB Leipzig's once again injured key player Xaver Schlager could soon be available again. The 27-year-old is back on the right track following his latest injury after tearing his cruciate ligament.
"Xaver is feeling a lot better," emphasized coach Marco Rose at a press conference ahead of the away game in the Bundesliga on Saturday (3.30pm/Sky) at VfL Bochum. However, Schlager will most likely not be able to take part in the game. However, Rose confirmed: "It's not right that it could take longer."
Rangnick: "Will possibly miss one or two games"
Midfielder Schlager celebrated his comeback from a cruciate ligament rupture at the end of November last year. In the new year, however, the Austrian was ruled out again in the first two league games due to knee problems.
Ralf Rangnick, once a coach himself in Leipzig, said on ORF that it was "probably bone edema". "He might miss a game or two", Rangnick had said.
Rose, who is already struggling with a major personnel shortage, emphasized that they had high hopes that Schlager "will be able to train with us again today". Rose did not want to give any details on the nature of the new injury.
