The basketball cup winners Syntainics MBC will have to finish the season without their center Martin Breunig. The team from Weißenfels announced that the 33-year-old will have to undergo an operation due to a finger injury. The operation by a hand specialist is scheduled to take place next Wednesday.
The club management is already looking for a replacement for the veteran. Breunig scored the decisive basket in the cup semi-final against Bayern Munich. In both games of the Final Four, the center managed 29 points and twelve rebounds, making him one of the key figures in the success. In the league, Breunig recorded 10.8 points per game and 4.8 rebounds.
