Routinier and captain Martin Männel has extended his contract with third-division soccer club Erzgebirge Aue ahead of schedule until June 30, 2025. As the club announced on Wednesday, the 35-year-old will remain with the Veilchen for a 17th season. Männel played his 500th game for the traditional club just a few months ago and now has 511. "I feel physically able to help the team next season as well," said Männel.
Sporting Director Matthias Heidrich continues to see the importance of Männel for the team: "We see day after day and week after week in every training session and competition that Martin Männel leads the way with his performance and lives his role as a leader."
