The Niners Chemnitz basketball players have continued their winning streak in the Bundesliga and against their Central German rivals MBC Syntainics. The Saxons won the duel against the Weißenfelser on Saturday on home floor with 74:65 (31:33) and consolidated with the fourth victory in a row their place in the top group of the highest division. The Saalestädter remain after the fifth defeat in the fifth game of the season last and could not defeat the archrival also in the seventh attempt.
The biggest share in the success of the home side had DeAndré Lansdown, Jeff Garrett (18 each), Jonas Richter (13), Aher Uguak (12) and Wesley van Beck (11). For the MBC, only Martin Breunig (16) and Chris-Ebou Ndow (11) scored in double figures.
In a very disjointed game, which was characterized by mistakes on both sides, the guests initially determined the scene. However, the Weissenfelser struck from the 19 ball losses of the Chemnitz far too little capital and could only settle to the 24. minute on 42:36. In the following four minutes, however, the Saxons played their opponents to the wall and turned the game in their direction with a 16:2 run to 52:44 (28th). At 59:48 (32), the hosts had ensured a preliminary decision and benefited above all from their superiority under the boards (44:35 rebounds). The guests could not seriously trouble the replacement-weakened home side in the last quarter primarily due to their disastrous quota from beyond the three-point line (two goals on 23 attempts).
