Aue are struggling in attack. There should be more options with the experienced Saarbrücken player. However, a trio will leave the Saxons.

Third division soccer club FC Erzgebirge Aue have found what they were looking for in a league rival to bolster their offense. Julian Günther-Schmidt is moving from FC Saarbrücken to the Lößnitz Valley in the summer, the Violets announced. The 30-year-old comes to Aue with the recommendation of 38 goals in 204 third division games. He has also played for Bundesliga club FC Augsburg and FC Carl Zeiss Jena.

"With his presence, personality and robustness, Julian Günther-Schmidt will add an extra element to our team. He is fired up for the new task and is looking forward to the challenge," said sporting director Matthias Heidrich.

Trio leave the Erzgebirge

Meanwhile, a trio have decided to turn down offers to extend their contracts at Aue. Mirnes Pepic, Kilian Jakob and Niko Vukancic will leave the club. "The three lads have other plans for the summer. That is legitimate and to be respected. We now have clarity in these positions and are active on the transfer market accordingly," explained Heidrich.
