The current form crisis of RB Leipzig's Timo Werner is a mystery to Lothar Matthäus. "Maybe he puts himself under too much pressure, I don't know, I'm not close enough," the 62-year-old told Deutsche Presse-Agentur ahead of the Saxons' top-of-the-table clash with FC Bayern on Saturday (6:30 p.m./Sky).
Werner is currently not among the regulars of Leipzig, falls out injured against Bayern. In the recent 1-0 success of the Leipzigers in Mönchengladbach, however, the international soccer striker had at least scored for the first time in this Bundesliga season. "His goal now has shown that he is still important for RB. But perhaps the style of play does not suit him because he does not have the spaces behind the defensive chain," suspects Sky pundit Matthäus. "But I am convinced that he will come out of it positively with his talent and experience."
