The handball players of BSV Sachsen Zwickau have taken a big step towards staying in the league ahead of time. Coach Norman Rentsch's charges won the first leg of the play-off at Buxtehuder SV 32:29 (18:16) in their favor.
Arwen Gorb (8), Blanka Kajdon (7/3) and Kaho Nakayama (6) played the biggest part in the success. Teresa von Prittwitz (6) and Annika Hampel (6/3) scored the most goals for Buxtehude. If they win at home on April 26 (6:30 p.m.), Zwickau will also play in the Bundesliga next season.
The visitors were courageous from the very first second and never trailed once in the encounter. BSV pulled away from 3:1 (4th minute) to 8:4 (8th minute) and 16:11 (19th minute). When Buxtehude reduced the gap to 20:22 (37'), the Zwickau players kept their nerve, also thanks to their great back-up between the posts. BSV goalkeeper Barbara Viktoria Gyori saved twelve shots. The team from Saxony produced a 4:0 run to make it 26:20 (42') and did not let this lead slip from their grasp.
