Erik Majetschak will remain a player at third-division soccer club FC Erzgebirge Aue for a further two years. The 24-year-old defensive all-rounder signed a contract to this effect on Wednesday, having already announced his intention to stay in the Erzgebirge on Saturday after the match against SV Waldhof Mannheim over the stadium loudspeakers. "Erik Majetschak has developed into a key player, helps the team with his enormous flexibility and is also developing more and more goal threat. He's simply a really good footballer with impeccable character," said sporting director Matthias Heidrich.
Majetschak comes from Bad Lausick, came through the youth ranks at RB Leipzig and moved to Aue from the U19 side there in 2019. After a lengthy injury, the defensive player fought his way back and played a strong 2023/24 season with 32 appearances and three goals. He has already played a total of 77 competitive matches for FC Erzgebirge.
