RB Leipzig have extended the contract with defensive player Castello Lukeba ahead of schedule. As the Bundesliga club and Champions League participants announced, the 21-year-old will stay at least one year longer. The Frenchman moved to Cottaweg from Olympique Lyon last season and has since developed into a regular in Leipzig.
"The move to Leipzig was exactly the right one for my development. I was given playing time and responsibility very quickly and felt the trust of everyone at the club, our fans and my team-mates at all times - RB Leipzig now feels like my second family," Lukeba was quoted as saying in the press release. "This environment makes it so easy for young players like me to quickly find their feet here and get better every day."
"Castello is a typical RBL player: young, hungry, capable of development, willing to learn and with first-class skills," said sporting director Marcel Schäfer. "Even though he's only played one full season for us, it's hard to imagine our squad without him."
