The RB Leipzig women's soccer team remain unbeaten at home. The Bundesliga club won 2:0 (1:0) against Carl Zeiss Jena at home on Cottaweg. Giovanna Hoffmann (30th minute) and Vanessa Fudalla (47th) scored for coach Jonas Stephan's team, who are now fifth in the table. Jena remain third from bottom and are still waiting for their first win of the season.
In a weak game overall, the Saxons had the better attacking moves. They were also efficient, with Leipzig taking the first good opportunity to take the lead. Marleen Schimmer set up Hoffmann in the penalty area, who simply had to slot home her third goal of the season.
Fudalla sets up the final score
The Leipzig side got off to the perfect start in the second half. A long ball from Marlene Müller was inadequately cleared by Jena's defence, which benefited Fudalla, who finished with a powerful shot to make it 2-0.
The visitors from Thuringia then made every effort to close the gap, but lacked the means against the favourites. Despite a rather lacklustre performance, Leipzig brought home the victory in the end.
