The Niners Chemnitz basketball team has taken the lead in the German league. The charges of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore defeated the Rostock Seawolves 85:75 (42:34) on home court on Friday to celebrate their 13th success in a row in all competitions. The Saxons suffered their first and so far only defeat of the season on the first game day in the German league on September 27, when they lost 85:90 at reigning champions Ratiopharm Ulm.
The outstanding DeAndre Lansdowne played a key role in Chemnitz's seventh win of the season in the German league with his 28 points. Kevin Yebo (18), Tylor Ongwae (13) and Jeff Garrett (12) also scored in double figures. Derrick Alston (26), Robin Amaize (13), Wes Clark (12) and Eric Lockett (10) scored best for Rostock.
The home side set the course for victory as early as the second quarter. Chemnitz pulled away from 27:25 (16') with a 15:0 run to 42:25 (19th minute). Rostock was not able to reduce the deficit to more than five points (37:42 in the 21st minute) because it was inferior under the basket.
Chemnitz snapped up a total of 47 rebounds, including 15 in offense, thanks primarily to Yebo (14) and Garrett (12). The visitors were only able to secure 39 rebounds from the board.
