So that RB Leipzig can expand its training center on Cottaweg in the future, the city wants to grant the club a heritable building right for the fairground from 2032. At the same time, this late start to the contract is intended to ensure that the small fair on the approximately 47,000 square meter site in Altlindenau will continue to exist until 2031. The corresponding contract with Red Bull Betriebsanlagen GmbH has now been initiated by the city leadership, with the city council making the final decision.
A ground rent of 6 percent of the property value has been agreed. However, this value is only determined at the start of the contract. The contract term is set at 32 years.
The property is currently mainly used as a fairground, and the market office building in the northern area is a listed building. There is also a small playing field in the north, as well as containers and parking spaces for the club in the north-eastern area. At the same time, the fairground regularly serves as a parking area on match days and during events in the stadium and arena.
In the coming years, the stadium surroundings are to be redesigned so that Leipzig is also prepared for top-class major sporting and cultural events such as the Olympic Games in the future. The local first division club RB Leipzig has already expressed interest in the area several times in order to expand its existing training center. Other uses on site would also be possible with the heritable building right.
