Dresden SC's volleyball players have reached the quarter-finals of the DVV Cup. Even without some of their regular players, they completed the task in the round of 16 at second-division club Wiesbaden without any problems.

The Dresden SC volleyball players overcame the first hurdle in the DVV Cup with ease. The team of coach Alexander Waibl fulfilled its compulsory task and won 3:0 (25:18, 25:10, 25:10) against the second team of VC Wiesbaden in the round of 16. As a result, the six-time cup winners are through to the quarter-finals.

Alexander Waibl made the trip to the match against the second-division team from the southern section without his regular starter Sarah Straube and top scorer Marta Levinska and also gave a number of second-string players a chance to play. Larissa Winter directed the game and Eva Zatkovic played on the diagonal, who was also named the most valuable player after the match.

After the visitors needed a little time to find their rhythm in the first set and allowed themselves a few easy mistakes, they clearly dictated proceedings in the second and third periods. Although the second-division team fought tirelessly for every ball, the Dresden team clearly made the most of its advantages in terms of speed, physicality and hardness. After just 59 minutes, Stamatia Kyparissi converted the first match point with an ace to win.
