One week before the cup final in Mannheim, Dresden SC's volleyball players mess up their dress rehearsal. They were clearly defeated in the top match at league leaders Schwerin.

Dresdner SC's volleyball players lost their top match in the Bundesliga 1:3 (25:23, 9:25, 23:25, 18:25) at SSC Palmberg Schwerin. As a result, the third-placed team from Saxony no longer has a chance of taking first place in the remaining two main round matches. Second place is also barely within reach.

The visitors from Saxony, who were without their sick outside attacker Victoria Demidova, got off to the better start. They served very powerfully and also worked very focused in defense. However, the hosts fought their way into the game better and better in front of 2058 spectators. The two teams then fought out a close exchange of blows, with the Elbe club narrowly gaining the upper hand in the end.

Disastrous second half

Alexander Waibl's charges completely lost the plot in the second half. Schwerin had stepped up the pressure on serve and, with Pimpichaya Kokram, provided even more penetration in attack. The DSC players' reception was shaky and they made too many easy mistakes.

The cup finalists made a strong comeback in the third period and gained an advantage with good tasks and a sacrificial court defense, but they gave away the advantage due to wobbles in reception. The hosts prevailed in the tight final phase.

The two teams gave each other nothing in the fourth set either, but then Waibl's charges fell four points behind due to a series of serves by their opponents, which they were unable to make up. The defeat was sealed after 103 minutes.
