There has been a change at the top of the state tourism association. The new president emphasizes the economic importance of the industry.

District Administrator Stephan Meyer from Görlitz is the new President of the State Tourism Association (LTV). The LTV general meeting elected the 43-year-old CDU politician as the successor to Jörg Markert. The vice presidents are the Mayor of Meißen, Olaf Raschke (non-party), and Helmut Apitzsch, representative of the Chemnitz Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Tourism has had difficult years, explained Meyer. With an annual turnover of 9.3 billion euros, the industry is of great economic importance. Tourism must therefore be given appropriate consideration in the program of a future state government, Meyer demanded.
