Malfunction in the signal box and at signals: Nothing has been working on a section of the Nuremberg-Bamberg line since the early hours of the morning - with consequences for long-distance train passengers.

Due to problems in a signal box, rail passengers on the Munich-Berlin line will probably have to be patient until the evening. A railroad spokeswoman said that a signal box on the route between Nuremberg and Bamberg has been out of order since the morning hours. As a result, no trains can run there, which in turn causes delays of up to two hours and cancels journeys.

"Our colleagues are doing everything they can to rectify the disruption as quickly as possible," said the railroad spokeswoman. However, it is assumed that the restrictions will continue into the evening hours. The cause of the disruption initially remained unclear. The problems affected signals along the route.

In long-distance services, ICE trains on the Munich-Berlin route via Erfurt-Halle and Erfurt-Leipzig-Bitterfeld were affected, as were Intercity trains on the Karlsruhe-Leipzig route that started and ended in Nuremberg.
