EnviaM lowers electricity and gas prices for eastern Germany

The prices for electricity, natural gas and thermal electricity for customers of the eastern German energy supplier EnviaM and Mitgas are set to fall at the turn of the year. "The noticeable price reductions for electricity, gas and heating products will help to ease the burden on households and businesses," said Chief Sales Officer Patrick Kather. However, a return to pre-crisis prices is still unlikely.

Kather explained that as a basic supplier, EnviaM is focusing on a forward-looking procurement strategy in order to minimize its risks. In view of price fluctuations on the energy markets, influenced by factors such as the war in Ukraine, the Middle East conflict and the continuing high demand for energy, this is of great importance.

Noticeable savings for electricity and gas customers

For private customers, electricity prices will fall by 5.60 cents gross per kilowatt hour to 37.91 cents. An average household with an annual consumption of 2,000 kilowatt hours will save around 112 euros (11 percent). For commercial customers, the savings amount to around 475 euros (17 percent) per year. The new electricity prices apply to around 650,000 customers in Mitnetz Strom's network area in Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.

Natural gas prices are also falling: for private customers, they will be reduced by 1.58 cents gross per kilowatt hour to 14.14 cents. A household with an annual consumption of 18,000 kilowatt hours will save around 285 euros (10 percent). The price changes affect around 50,000 private and commercial customers in the Mitnetz Gas grid area.

Reductions also for heat pump and heat storage electricity

EnviaM is also reducing the prices for heat pump electricity by 3.53 cents gross to 29.57 cents per kilowatt hour. The prices for heat storage electricity will be reduced by 2.99 cents to 28.93 cents in the low tariff and to 37.11 cents per kilowatt hour in the high tariff. This will lead to an average saving of 212 euros (ten percent) for heat pump customers and 227 euros (nine percent) for heat storage customers. The new prices apply to around 70,000 heat electricity customers in the Mitnetz Strom grid area.

EnviaM supplies around 1.1 million customers in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Brandenburg with electricity, gas or heat.
