Inflation rate in Saxony at 2.4 percent at the beginning of the year

The rise in prices in Saxony slowed at the beginning of the year. According to the State Statistical Office in Kamenz, the inflation rate in January is expected to have been 2.4 percent. In December, the figure was 0.4 percent higher.

The statisticians spoke of a typical development at the beginning of the year. Among other things, increases in fees for waste collection (5.9 percent), water supply (4.8 percent) and wastewater disposal (4.8 percent) had an impact. On the other hand, consumers benefited from discount campaigns for clothing (-4.6 percent) and a balanced energy market (-0.7 percent).
